Operations Manager

I am an Ithaca native and grew up in a family of artists and educators. My Mom was one of the founding members of Ithaca’s first Alternative Elementary School. As a teacher’s’ kid I put in a lot of extra hours in the classroom, packing and unpacking, and wandering the halls looking for things to help with. It was in those halls that I felt most at home. When the opportunity to work at Ithaca’s newest Alternative School, I jumped at it.

At New Roots, I am lucky to be able to share my passion for food with our students in a variety of ways. Preparing delicious meals for our community, helping students learn about how to cook in volume for our school meals, and by teaching a comprehensive Culinary Arts curriculum. I’m gratified when our students find a passion for cooking and community. A number of our students have gone on to culinary careers and I love being part of that awakening.

As one of the founding members of New Root’s staff, I am proud to see our school grow and change. The one constant is the diverse and compassionate students and staff who show up every day and remind me of why community is so important.
