Kerry DeLisa

English Teacher

Kerry Galea DeLisa holds a B.A. in English from Hollins University and a Masters in Education from the University of Texas.  Kerry has served as an AmeriCorps member on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Reservation in South Dakota, and for ten years worked as a program officer for the national AmeriCorps program in Washington, DC.  Kerry’s passions are world traveling, writing, hiking, triathlon, and spending time with her husband, two energetic boys, and very spoiled dog.   


Classes Teaching

Read 180
Read 180 is a reading success program that incorporates technology and high-interest reading materials to elevate and strengthen the literacy skills of all participating students.  
English 11 Regents Prep
This course is designed to prepare all eleventh grade students for the June 2017 Common Core English Regents exam. Students will learn to draft effective arguments and literally analyses, increase their critical reading skills, and  learn research and public speaking techniques.
English 11/12 Academic Writing Class
This joint 11th and 12th grade English class focuses on preparing students for college level writing. Students will read great works of literature and strengthen their voices and skills as writers. Students will increase their abilities in composing articulate and sophisticated writing pieces and hone public speaking skills. Course assignments include analytic research, essays, biographical essays, original pieces of fiction, writing and delivering speeches, and reading and writing poetry.
