I am thrilled to join the New Roots family! I am looking forward to sharing a complete musical experience with the students as well as staff. I believe art and music enriches the human condition for all who participate and I am thrilled that New Roots encompasses that ideal. Letʼs have a great year!
Greg Evans, a native of Syracuse, NY is a passionate and captivating performer, pedagogue and composer. His drive, positive attitude and facility on the drum set has given him experience across the spectrum of the music industry. Greg's influence spans multiple milieus including studio recordings, live clubs/venues, festivals and the classroom.
He received a Master's in Music from Ithaca College ('11) and a Bachelor's in Music from the Manhattan School of Music ('09). At these institutions, he was a student of Gordon Stout and Justin DiCioccio respectively. Evans has shared the stage with artists such as: The Count Basie Orchestra, Jonathan Batiste, Terence Blanchard, Chick Corea, Joey DeFrancesco, Melinda Doolittle, Kurt Elling, Robin Eubanks Jimmy Heath, Joe Magnarelli, Eric Marienthal, Branford Marsalis, John Pizzarelli, Dave Samules, and Allen Vizzutti.
Evans also teaches at Ithaca college where he directs the Monday Night Lab Band, coaches combos and teaches a private studio. He also holds the new position as the ALANA student advisor.
