I grew up in the wide expanse of the Canadian prairie. Northern lights would regularly dance across the sky connecting us to distant neighbours. During the winter, I lived among snow drifts that could swallow houses whole and regularly played shinny on the pond after school. I proudly recognize words like quinzhee, zamboni, poutine and toque. Until I moved in high school, I attended a tiny elementary/middle school where grade levels were often combined because of the small class sizes.

It was in the isolated prairie that I first traveled to worlds created by the likes of Philip Pullman, Robert Louis Stevenson, J. Meade Falkner, Brian Jacques, Lloyd Alexander and William Horwood. I am always looking for new books to read and welcome any suggestions.

I came to New York as a college basketball recruit and earned a Masters of Science in Special Education as well as a Master of Arts in English Adolescence Education from Binghamton University. I am excited to be at New Roots and look forward to contributing to its vibrant culture.
