I grew up here in the Ithaca area and graduated from Newfield High School.  I received my Associates Degree from TC3 in 2004 and stayed in the area working full-time.  After some self-exploration through a life-changing road trip across country, I decided to give my time and service to people in need.  I joined Americorps National Civilian Community Corps in 2006 and spent 10 months traveling across the country working on various community service projects.  My work in the Gulf doing Hurricane Katrina relief led me to wanting to pursue a career in the human service field.  I returned to school at the University at Buffalo and received my B.A. in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology. After graduating, I worked full-time while exploring various graduate programs.  I found an excellent Masters in Social Work program at Binghamton University that really encourages their students to be agents of change. I just started my first semester in the program and will graduate in 2013.  I am very excited about working as an intern here at New Roots.  It feels great to be a part of a community that truly cares for their students.
