I eagerly look forward to teaching Global Studies at the New Roots School. My education began here in Ithaca, growing up as a part of the city’s rich homeschooling community. As a teacher at New Roots it will be exciting to give back to the community that I learned so much from. After going to college at Alfred University where I majored in History and Communications, I moved to Vermont to begin my teaching career. I taught at South Royalton School in South Royalton, Vermont for four years starting as a Tech Ed. (shop) teacher and then taking over as a Social Studies Teacher. While teaching in Vermont, I pursued my interest in Global Studies by completing my Master’s degree in Globalization Studies at Dartmouth College. I anticipate using my academic background to challenge my students to develop the critical thinking skills necessary to engage in the world and community around us.

My interests outside the classrooms include an avid (and perhaps unhealthy) interest in soccer, tasting new and different vegetarian foods, biking, traveling and spending time with family. My disinterests include cleaning up after my shedding dogs, daylight-savings time and slow internet connections. I look forward to combining my experiences and interests with the students at New Roots.
